Spring in Ruidoso NM

There are a lot of people who have heard of Ruidoso, New Mexico.  Perhaps they were interested in the world class skiing. Maybe they were attracted to the area by the Inn of the Mountain Gods or one of the area casinos. But this time of year, the place to visit is both a local business and a park unlike any other in New Mexico.  It is the Hondo Iris Farm and Gallery.

Ruidoso is a beautiful city that takes pride in its appearance and connection to nature. The Hondo Iris Farm and Gallery is the one place to find the unlimited beauty that defines that connection. Imagine walking in a park like setting that features 200 different award winning Iris varieties.

April is the perfect time to visit. The flowers are just beginning to show their colors and the expert advice you receive will make you a local authority no matter where you live.  There is no admission charge at Hondo Farm.  There are plenty of picnic tables, handicap access and amazing gardens to photograph and enjoy!

April brings a special benefit too. The Hummingbirds return each April to the Hummingbird porch.  Here you can watch the hummingbirds feed, fight and fly.  The story is the same each year.  The males arrive first and stake out the best places for their new nests.  After several weeks, the females arrive and the new families are soon taking advantage of the abundance of hummingbird feeders Hondo Farm provides.  Photographers flock to this park like setting to take their own amazing photos, but if you are not handy with a camera; photos are available in the gift shop too.
